NewYork Nonsense..

Well everyone the last two weeks have been very eventful. We have been teaching a 12 year old named michael. He's a super well behaved kid and everytime we go over there to his house to teach him I swear he's always half asleep. We taught him all the lessons and he definitely understood how much Jesus Christ is always trying to help him and his family. Michaels mom came up to me after church one day back when i first got here and she told me she wanted us to baptize her son. two months later here we are. I had the opportunity to baptize him and I felt the spirit so strongly. It really reminded me when i was 8 and i got baptized by my dad. I really took that moment for granted for a long time until i really was in the moment like this last saturday. The joy that was on his face after he came out of the water was unreal. Michael told me right after 'i felt heavy before i went in the water but now i feel like i have a shield around me'.  He also got a little worried after he asked me why i pushed him under the water haha. I responded 'I just wanted to make sure you got baptized once. In all reality I probably got it from the last time I baptized someone and that was my mom. If you do baptisms for the dead with my be prepared to fight her in the water. She hated being pushed under and i literally had to push her under the water. There was no bending the knees involved haha.  After the baptism we ate Hation food because his mom is from haite and she wanted to cook food.  We had beef patte and soup. she also made non alcoholic cocktail which was amazing. Michael later stated that we were his best friends. This really made my purpose as a missionary clear as day, and thats to bring souls unto jesus christ and help them have unimaginable joy and happiness on this life and the life to come.

When he got confirmed the next sunday i felt the spirit more strongly than ive felt in a really long time. We confirmed him a member of the church of jesus christ of latterday saints, and gave him the holy ghost. I know that hes gonna be a happier kid and really receive more blessings in his life because of his faith in the lord.

After church on sunday a ward member sister rivas found us and talked to us about giving her non member neighbors  son triston a blessing. He had been feeling under the weather and they were actually gonna come to church but couldnt because of his sickness. We ended up going over to their home that night and really got to know him and his mom trisha. They are super nice people. triston is a sophomore in highschool and he runs track. His mom is a military nurse veteran and now she works at a hospital. They really wanna know more about jesus christ and she told us she knows that there is a god and she has already felt his love. I have no doubt that they will both be baptized. We set up a return appointment for wednesday this week and im so excited to teach them. By the way she had just bought a 1999 ford powerstroke 7.3 with a plow to plow snow this winter. Funny thing is that i havent seen any snow so idk what she was thinking haha. super cool people though.
On the way out we went across the street to sister Rivas house and i had the oppertunity to give her dad a blessing. He had to be in his 80's. before christmas he had fallen and split his head clear open and his health is just down. I know there was a reason i was sopposed to come to newyork and it was to help these people. As i gave the blessing i was inspired to say certain things even though he couldnt understand it (he speaks only spanish). I know he felt comforted and that the lord is always with him. He got baptized fiinally two years ago and was sealed to his wife last year and i know that he knows hes gonna be ok and that god is always with him no matter what.

Ive seen a few neat cars this week. a few bug eye subarus and a couple hawkeyes and one blob eye. For those of you who dont know what those are you can ask my uncle tyler haha. I also invited a hispanic dude in a 6.0 powerstroke and he didnt wanna come to church so i started talking to him about his truck a little bit even tho he couldnt speak english and he started revving it up and i managed to snag a video of it . Pretty cool if you ask me.

Ive never ever been hit on by a male before until last week i invited an older man (70's) to church and he said no and proceeded to say a few things of  which you can ask my parents what he said hahaha . I also got chewed out by another old dude telling me how bad us white people suck and that we hate black people and that we love killing them. I ended up walking away becuase he just kept getting more and more rascist but anyways it was a good couple weeks.
I'll write again next week.   Love, Elder Mikkola

btw the guy in the different suits every week is brother Margiotta.
