NYC craziness
It's been a little but since I've written an email so I'll start with that. The past few weeks have been filled with lots of surprises and extra big surprises haha.
A lot of the people we have been teaching are doing really well at reading the book if Mormon every day. Coming to church (on time) is a whole nother story.
FUN FACT:( I'm trying not to throw up while riding on the bus writing this)
Last week I got a free pair of Nike Air forces from a street vendor. I talk to him everyday and I guess he liked me so much he just handed them to me and told me to take them. I'll probably never wear them in my life but they are a very cool nycm collectors item.
This week elder Stewart decided we wanted a quaran. For those of you who don't know what that is it is the book of the Muslim religion. There is a Muslim mosque below our apartment building so we stopped in. The gave us a quaran and told us to follow them to a room where they proceeded to explain to us why we should convert over. They gave us lots of snacks and water. We taught them a little of the Restoration of our church. We are gonna bring them a book of Mormon sometime this week.
Thus past Sunday we had a few friends to church. One of them called and told me he was close so I went outside to meet him and right across from the church there was a black dude just pants to the ground doing his business and my friend Nathan got to the door and just busted out laughing. Pretty crazy stuff happens by the church haha.
Sunday got even crazier when I was asked 5 minutes before sacrament meeting started to give a talk. Which i had none prepared. I decided to speak on the restoration of our church. I focused alot on jesus christ and how it's all through him. I know that his sacrifice means everything to me and it's amazing that through the atonement we can become clean every day. As we always remember that and focus on "daily repentance" we can really get to our heavenly father and jesus christ. This all starts on our part. We have to have a broken heart and a contrite spirit to really have the drive to see where we are at and change. I've noticed for me that daily studying in the book of Mormon has increased my love for the savior and really centered my heart on missionary work. I know that as you all strive to daily repent and read from the book of Mormon you will find your life much more enjoyable and you will be able to resist sin and sadness with help from our savior. I know that my savior lives and I'm so happy to be apart of this work. I love you all and have a good week.
Love,
Elder Coca-Cola
